Conversion of a Victorian grain warehouse into residential apartments and offices
The Granaries is a Victorian grain warehouse located in the town centre of Midhurst, within the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB).
The local planning has identified the building as non-designated heritage asset and therefore considered as ‘locally listed’ with planning restriction in place. The complex regulatory planning process also involved Affordable Housing, Change of Use and regulations related to the Highway Authority.
After an in-depth local research and pre-consultation with the local planning officers, we created a solution that exceeded developers’ expectations, with positive result from the planning application. For the project to take best advantage of environmental enhancement, we also worked with the clients to explore opportunities in relation to both construction and operational performance issues during the life of the building.
